It was probably a few days before the scheduled departure that we decided to stay at Kovalam instead of Trivandrum. Though the distance between the two is only 14kms, the sea facing Kovalam has better views.
he decision also lead us to be left with no accommodation at all.
But Vedanta Wake Up came to our rescue.
Located at hardly a two minutes walk from the lighthouse beach, Vedanta Wake Up is one of the first backpacking hotels in India.
The car dropped us almost two hundred metres away from the hotel. Reason being the road that leads up to the hotel is a narrow strip running between lush green fields. Believe me we did not complain!
The manager of the hotel was already waiting for us at the beginning of that strip and quickly arranged for our bags to be picked. It was thereon that we reached the hotel, took about an hour’s rest and then headed out on to the beach for some dinner and beer. The sea that met us was picturesque, more on that later.
What worked?
Free Wi-fi
A common recreation space with board games and couches
A sprawling bathroom with a huge bath tub in it
Huge room area with best in class fittings
Friendly staff
Optimum Location: Proximity to the beach & Tranquil surroundings
Though we stayed in rooms, it had a lovely hostel setup as well
What didn’t work?
No restaurant inside the hotel space
Yes, that’s it 😀

This sounds like a nice place to stay at we stayed in kavalum and the beaches were super as was the sunset.
Sunset was very pretty, true..
Sounds great! Wish I could visit India. 🙂
Why wish? Simply make a plan and come here! 😀
Looks like a cool place, for me at least…I like such places to stay at…calm and quiet and where I don’t have to travel far enough to visit places to visit. Nice!
Then this place is 100% for you!
Sounds like a nice place. Had been to Kovalam only once and on that day the beach was very rough.
Rough in the sense?
looks like a wonderful place to spend time with family. Nice review
Yes it is Rajlakshmi 🙂
Nice review of the hotel, but no restaurant is bad 🙂 I had lived in Kerala for 12 years before coming to Delhi and have enjoyed visiting most of the places nearby. Loved Munnar, Allepy, and Kanyakumari.
Oh really? I never knew this..
Though the hotel and its location (proximity to beach) is good but a restaurant-less is not good.
Yes Kalpana that is true…
Nice review…looks like a gr8 place to be…And yes a restaurant is a must especially for guests like me who only want to eat! 😀
